How Was Your Day? (Tag Dean)

Belle shrugged. "That's the doctor for ya. But I guess I can understand why they do it. I have to grow some plants here for the Hospital Wing to use in their potions and some of the ingredients can be, well, not very appealing to the eye. And that's putting it lightly." She sipped her coffee, hoping Dean wouldn't get more suspicious of the Hospital Wing because of that statement. He was already so cynical about it, she didn't want to make it worse.

"Well that settles it," He said lifting his foot so it was resting on a chair, "I am never going to the Hospital Wing ever again, so long as I live."

He set down the coffee cup and reached for a broken watch and a small screwdriver. He hadn't gotten a chance to fix it yet and he was thankful that he owned several watches.

"Yeah, we'll see how long that lasts," Belle said, grinning. "You'll probably end up visiting it at least once before your teaching career is over. Mark my words." She sipped her coffee again, noticing that it had gone cool after she had been talking to Dean for so long. Sighing, she flicked out her wand and muttered a spell that heated the drink up again. She smiled, glad to have it handy with her.

"Shame," Dean shook his head as she preformed the heating spell, "using magic on perfectly good coffee."

He grinned as he popped off the back of the watch, "Well that explains a lot," he muttered looking at the inner components."

"Oh come on, it was just to heat it back up again," Belle replied, her fingers cupping around the coffee cup for warmth. "It's not like I rearranged its insides like a demented scientist." She glanced at the watch Dean was fiddling around with. "What, did it stop working or something?" she asked. "I'm guessing you would be opposed to fixing it with magic?"

"If I could fix it with magic I would, but we both know how well that usually turns out for me."

"I must have dropped it or something," he muttered poking at the shattered mechanics.

"Hmm..." Belle pursed her lips for a moment, wand tapping against her knee for a moment. "Would the Oculus Reparo spell work? I've seen people use it to fix broken glasses before. Maybe it can fix watches, too."

"Probably, but I'm not going to try. No point in making it worse with shoddy spell work," he replied shrugging. The watch had no monetary or sentimental value, so it didn't really matter, Dean just didn't like letting things go to waste.

He had tried the spell in question once, and that was enough, he had managed to turn the broken object into something irreparable with just a flick of his wand.

Belle shrugged. "If you insist." Arguing about it wasn't going to do any good anyway. It seemed like Dean was more comfortable doing things by hand, which Belle understood sometimes. She preferred to take care of the plants by hand. Even though she got her hands dirty and occasionally spilled water on her clothes, she felt like taking care of the plants that way was more affectionate, showed that she cared. It was a silly notion, but that was how she felt.

"Usually I would," Dean muttered, "But this one is dead. I don't think anything can make it work again."

He sighed and tossed the watch into a wastebasket, It happened, watches didn't last forever.

"Aw, pity. Well, we can get a new one at Hogsmeade if you like. A little friendly outing for some old friends?" Belle smiled at him. "Hogsmeade practically has everything you could ever want to stock up on. We could go shopping, then get some candy and butterbear. The two are a great combination, after all."

"Sounds like a good plan," Dean grinned, he hadn't been to Hogsmeade in years, and he hadn't had butterbeer in just as long. It would also be healthy for him to get out of the castle.

"Yay!" Belle gave a grin and clapped her hands together excitedly. "Maybe we could get some other teachers to go with us too, more bonding time for all of us, you know? I've told you about Jayden, right? The new Transfiguration teacher? He's a really bubbly guy, but he's nice, too. He kinda makes me pale in comparison when it comes to the 'head in the clouds' personality." She gave a little laugh.

"I find that hard to believe," Dean smirked, "I was sure no one could compare to you in that category."

"But it sounds like a good idea, You know how well I manage with meeting new people," He said.

"I know, I know, shocking," Belle replied dramatically, her eyes sweeping upward like a diva. She gave a little giggle afterwards. "You and your social skills, I know. But don't worry. Most of the people here are nice once you get to know them. We've got an interesting bunch of teachers here this year."

"I noticed," Dean had seen some of the teachers around the school, considering how young most of them were it was a drastic change from the ancient teachers he had been taught by.

"You let me know when and where Belle, and I'll show up."

Belle smiled. "I'm looking forward to that. Hopefully, things will still be not too busy by the time the weekend rolls around. I know as the year goes on, things start getting crazier and crazier. The students start getting stressed out and I start panicking on whether I can cover all the material in time." That had happened last year, and had caused Belle to become almost as frazzled as the students, which had made for some pretty comical situations.

"I'm pretty sure everyone gets frazzled as the end of the year looms, but we have ten months before then," He grinned, "No sense in worry about milk that has yet to spill."

"Good point," Belle acknowledged. "I can't help but think about what I might put in the final exam, though. You know, do I stick with the old stuff, or put in some new things to spice it up, that sort of thing. You know me. I'm always thinking about something, even if it won't happen for another ten months."

"I don't even want to think about that," Dean groaned, "The last muggle studies professor had completely outdated information, I'm going to have to rewrite the whole exam."

"I don't get it, why the hell would he have taught the students about stuff that doesn't even exist anymore."

Belle winced. "Ouch. It was that outdated?" She didn't even want to think about that. "You'd think they'd make Muggle Studies a bit more important, what with the Muggle world getting closer and closer to ours every day. And with more half-bloods coming into the world and what-not. People always say that wizards would have died out if they hadn't started marrying Muggles."

"Well its true," Desn shrugged, "There's only so much interbreeding a society can take before something goes wrong."

"And yeah, this guy's shit was seriously out of date. I've got some stuff in here that muggles call classics, but the stuff he was teaching them...The car he showed them was an antique!"

Belle nodded. "True. They say that was the cause of half the sicknesses back in the Middle Ages, people marrying cousins and siblings, it all sounds kinda icky to me. Although my mother says she could have married her first-cousin if she wanted to, back in her day. I don't think I could ever marry someone related to me though, no matter how distant. It'd be kinda weird, you know?" She blinked for a second, trying to remember what old-fashioned cars look like. "I think I've seen pictures of those before. In Muggle advertisements around London. I always thought they were kinda cute, even if they were out-of-date."

"Let me make something very clear to you Belle," Dean says seriously leaning on the desk, "A car, of any kind should not be called cute."

"And the heaps they made in the 1920's that couldn't go over 30 miles per hour, they definitely don't deserve the title."

Belle raised an eyebrow. "What, are they any different from that motorcycle of yours?" she teased, tapping him on the nose playfully. "I'm sure it's an adorable little contraption, too, especially if it's made by you. Maybe I'll put a spell on it so that it plays a cute little song whenever you turn on the engine to make it complete." She burst out laughing, no longer able to contain herself.
