Staff Table: The Sorting Ceremony and Feast Empty
PostSubject: Staff Table: The Sorting Ceremony and Feast   Staff Table: The Sorting Ceremony and Feast EmptySun Apr 15, 2012 9:36 am

[Your character has entered the Great Hall and sat at their Staff table. The first years have just been sorted and are now seated.]

Alliss Rivera moved the sorting hat and the stool to the side, taking her position seated next to Albus Dumbledore at the staff table, she awaited his speech, tapping her glass to retrieve the student's attention.

"Welcome to the start of a new term at Hogwarts everyone," Albus stood up and addressed the students. "I would like to remind you that the third floor corridor and the forbidden forest are forbidden to anyone who does not wish to suffer a most painful death." He paused, he wanted to make sure his words had been heard by the students. "That aside, let the feast, begin!" With his last words, he gestured with his hands towards the four tables and a plentiful supply of food appeared.

The transformation still amazed Alliss and she couldn't help but smile as she sat between Riley and the Headmaster when the feast appeared. There was something so welcoming and homely about it.

[Feel free to roleplay as you wish, after the feast, your characters will be placed into dormitories and you shall then continue to roleplay there. The dormitories will be announced in the "Important Lists" section after the feast. Enjoy!]

Holli sat with a smile and said as she looked at the students, "I must say this is quite a lot of students to teach."

Amelia sat in her seat, nibbling on her food like a little bird. She looked at all the students, wondering what the future might hold for them. She turned her attention to Holli. "Yes miss Would, it can get tough at times. But the fate has been kind to us. So many promissing youths. Don't you think?"

Holli lightly laughed and said with agreement, "Yes I quite agree. Hopefully I get more challenging students who are interested in Divination. The headmaster himself called me out here to teach them because of my unique Divination ability."

"Are you a seer too miss Would?!" She asked amazed and excited. "I am one. Though I can never seem to remember what I have foretold after I have. But the headmaster tells me I have that gift."

Holli said with a smile then with a frown, "Yes, I can see the future but I remember it. I can only see the future when my body glows white and sometimes it becomes painful."

Belle smiled as she looked around at all the students. The first-years were chatting excitedly with each other, while older students pointed out how to make their first year one to remember. She hoped that the new students weren't too intimidated by all their new surroundings. Belle herself had been a little creeped out by the huge halls and some of the ghosts. But after a few weeks, she already thought of the place as a second home. She looked to her right, noticing that the two women next to her were both Divination teachers.

"Oh, you're both teaching Divination teachers?" she asked. "Sounds like a fascinating subject. I wasn't professional at it in my student years, but it was always interesting to learn about."

Holli said with a smile, "Let me guess. You must work with Herbology? Everytime I would get sent to the hospital wing for the wrong plant I picked."

"Interesting miss Would." She turned her head to the young herbology teacher. "Yes miss Mallery. I have been here for years and years and years." She joked, making her hand gestures a bit exaggarated. "I was here probabaly when you were a student. And indeed, divination is a mystical art, that not everybody can do. You must be one with the universe." She said in almost a sigh.

"Oh my," Belle said, looking at Holli with concern. "I can give you some basic ground rules if you like. We can discuss them over some tea." Tea was always Belle's drink of choice. She only drank coffee if she needed to stay up all night and finish grading some tests. It had happened at least once last year, much to her dismay. She had nearly mixed up the Mandrakes with the Puffapods.

"You do look familiar, maybe I had you once while I was a student," she said to Amelia. "My memory's a little faded though. I guess I liked my Herbology classes too much." She gave a little laugh. "Did you always know you wanted to be a Divination teacher?"

Her eyes lighted up at the mention of tea. "If you want tea my dear, you can allways come to my office. I have plenty of tea. I can even tell your fortune from the tea leafs." She said excitedly. "Not allways my dear. I started out as a mugglestudies teacher. Then the headmaster found out about my gift and gave me my current post."

"Hm?" Belle looked up at Holli. "What, have we met somewhere before?" It could be possible that maybe Belle had met Holli during school, she just couldn't recall. She remembered seeing Alliss when she was a student though, even if she didn't talk to her much.

"Oh, another tea lover? That's great. I've always preferred it myself. I've got a couple of plants for it back home." She sipped from her goblet, which happened to be filled with wine. "Mugglestudies? Wow. I don't think I ever took that class. Didn't have enough room in my schedule."

"Oh, I did? That does sound like something I would do." Belle gave a little laugh. She had been pointed out as the star Herbology student in her time at school and she had offered to help anyone who was having trouble. Holli was probably one of the many students who came to help her. "You do seem familiar now that I think about it. You were in Hufflepuff with me, weren't you?"

"Well, it worked, didn't it?" Belle said, laughing a little. "I guess helping with other students then helped me realize that I wanted to be a teacher. What about you? What made you decide to come back here and teach Divination?"

Holli explained with a smile, "The headmaster himself sent a letter to me. I've been dancing for quite sometime but since the headmaster sent the letter. I was to come back to teach and he needed me for my unique Divination ability. I see the future when my bogy glows with a white light."

"You dance too? Wow, you're pretty multi-talented," Belle said. "I can't do any of that modern stuff that kids do these days. I prefer the classical type of dancing: waltzing, the tango, foxtrot, that sort of thing. I guess I'm old-fashioned in that sense." She smiled. "I've never heard of that happening to a Seer before. Does it only happen to you or does it happen to others as well?"

As Daniel sat down by the table, he looked around and noticed most had already arrived and were in full conversation already.
He decided his chance to engage was long gone, and instead smiled as he looked around the room at the new students. New as well as old. Several faces stood out to him, his so-called favorite students, but it was no time to think such matters. He was a professional man, for most parts. Many might not think it of him, but he would never initiate any relationship he might engage in, it was all the work of the women. Not that he minded an awful lot, he had yet to find a woman he would turn down, as long as she hadn't too young of an age.
He took a look and realized he had sat down next to two women, one he had just spoken to on the train, and the other he knew maybe all too well. He would never forget her face, and his smile brightened to see her again after all this time.
"Always fun to see the freshmen so eager, don't you think?" he asked softly as he leaned over to them with a charming smile.

Holli saw Daniel and said with a smile to see him to recognize that man, "Daniel Willix. It's been quite awhile hasn't it?"

Belle looked over to see that Daniel had joined them. "Oh, hello," she said, smiling. "Yes, I agree with that. Such eager little young minds, on their own for the first time. Takes me back to when we were like that."

Belle's words made him think of his own childhood, but quickly shook the thought knowing it was not wise to think back.
Instead he smiled as he turned his attention to the blonde teacher, who had caught his more immidiate interest.
"Sure has," he said smiling charmingly. "Some might even say too long," he continued and laughed softly.

"Oh, so you two know each other well?" Belle asked. It certainly looked like Daniel and Holli were on friendly terms. Maybe more than friendly, unless Belle was over-thinking things again. She just sipped her wine again while casting glances at the two.
