Ravenclaw House Table: The Sorting Ceremony and Feast Empty
PostSubject: Ravenclaw House Table: The Sorting Ceremony and Feast   Ravenclaw House Table: The Sorting Ceremony and Feast EmptySun Apr 15, 2012 9:34 am

[Your character has entered the Great Hall and sat at their Ravenclaw house table. The first years have just been sorted and are now seated.]

Alliss Rivera moved the sorting hat and the stool to the side, taking her position seated next to Albus Dumbledore at the staff table, she awaited his speech, tapping her glass to retrieve the student's attention.

"Welcome to the start of a new term at Hogwarts everyone," Albus stood up and addressed the students. "I would like to remind you that the third floor corridor and the forbidden forest are forbidden to anyone who does not wish to suffer a most painful death." He paused, he wanted to make sure his words had been heard by the students. "That aside, let the feast, begin!" With his last words, he gestured with his hands towards the four tables and a plentiful supply of food appeared.

The transformation still amazed Alliss and she couldn't help but smile as she sat between Riley and the Headmaster when the feast appeared. There was something so welcoming and homely about it.

[Feel free to roleplay as you wish, after the feast, your characters will be placed into dormitories and you shall then continue to roleplay there. The dormitories will be announced in the "Important Lists" section after the feast. Enjoy!]

Todd gazed hungrily down at his plate of food. The houseelves had outdone themselves this time, it seemed. He dug in as soon as Dumbledor said they could, keeping his eyes fixed either on his plate or on the bright stars above them in the magical ceiling. He'd found that chewing while staring at a person could be ridiculously embarrassing, not to mention awkward. He also just didn't want to catch anyone's eyes should they show some kind of hostile manner; though he was usually found of his Housemates, he wasn't taking any chances.

Brieanne sat quietly as the food appeared, a smile appearing on her face as well. The Feast was her favorite part of arriving at Hogwarts yet again; it reminded her of home. Not with her uncle in that lonely place he called a mansion, but HOME with her mother and father before they stopped contacting her. She took small bites of food every minute or so, wanting to savor each and every taste there was on the plate.

The ceiling intrigued her more than anything else, with its constellations and twinkling stars. She loved how at home she felt, and she continued eating, reminding herself to thank the House Elves for being so wonderfully hospitable.

Jim was at his usual seat by himself at the end of the table by himself, but he spotted Todd not too far away. He hesitated for a moment, not sure what the other guy thought of him at the moment, but he shrugged, figuring that it wouldn't hurt to try and sit next to him. He seemed the most friendly face at the moment, and the only one who Jim knew wouldn't give him funny looks. But his stomach still squirmed uncomfortable as he walked over.

"Um...you...saving this seat for anyone?" he asked, gesturing to the empty space next to Todd.

Todd glanced up sharply when he heard a voice behind him, muscles tensed to give a snarky comeback. But when he glanced around and saw Jim he tried to replace his patented Sarcastic Smirk with a Friendly Smile. "Uh, no man, you can take it," he said, nodding to emphasize his approval.

Brieanne finished what little she had eaten after a few minutes, and pushed her plate back. She whipped out another book and began to read again, knowing she had little friends, even in her own House. 'Well, whatever,' she scoffed in her mind, 'I came into this world alone, and that's how I'm goin' out.. if this arranged marriage of mine is gonna get called off.'

She peeked over her book to see Todd and Jim. She had seen them around before and knew their face, but never went out of her way to talk to them. She decided to just keep quiet unless someone spoke to her.. typical of her, really.

"Thanks." Jim gave what he hoped was a friendly smile. "Seems like it's more crowded in this place than usual," he said as he brushed his hair back. "Or is it just me?" He reached for a glass of pumpkin juice. Socializing like this still made him feel a little nervous. He wasn't exactly a professional at it. He noticed a girl sitting nearby, reading a book. She happened to be glancing at them, but he couldn't be sure. "Todd, what's her name, I forget...um...is it Brianna? Brielle? Something like that?" Jim felt kinda pathetic, having been with these guys for four years and not knowing their names.

Todd took a bite of corn, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, seems like there are a bunch more first years this time," he conceded, licking his lips so as to make sure they were free of any crumbs. He followed Jim's gaze to the girl across the table. He was sure he'd heard her name before, in some role call or something. It perched on the edge of his memory, just out of reach. "Ah...definitely starts with a 'B'...has an 'N' somewhere in there..."

He wiped his mouth with a napkin, drumming his fingers one the table. He wasn't sure why it was important to know her name, but it was the most interesting thing going on at the moment so it was at least worth a try. "Brieanne maybe? You could, like, scream out a name and see if she looks up. Then we'd be totally sure," he muttered, hiding a smirk with his fist.

Brieanne raised an eyebrow at the two men, putting down her book and crossing her legs as well as her arms, a smile on her face, "..I can hear you two," she said, laughing, "And yes, my name's Brieanne.. you two are Todd and Jim. Funny how I know your names but you've yet to learn mine.." she teased, stretching.

She stood up and sat a little closer to them, leaving a bit of space between herself and the two of them just because, "It's fine you don't know my name.. I'm more of a silent type anyway. How was you two's ride up here?" she asked, her velvety voice floating through the air.

Jim choked on his turkey leg, laughing at Todd's statement. "Yeah, sure, let's do that," he joked, wiping the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand. He cleared his throat as he guzzled down some more pumpkin juice. He looked up when Brieanne spoke to them, feeling embarrassed at what she said. It was true though, the fact that she knew their names but they didn't know her. But he was surprised to hear that she was the silent type. "I'm usually that way, too," he said. "You should see me in my classes. I'm always in the same seat: in the back, near the corner. It's practically become standard for me." He shrugged. "Not as bad as it could have been, I suppose. We got stuck with Fionn most of the time, but he has this rule of not beating on anyone until we get to school, so we were safe for the moment."

Todd let out a laugh at Brieanne's statement, hopefully covering a bit of his embarrassment in the process. "Yeah, we probably should have noticed the fact that you have ears and all," he said, offering a smile. "I'm pretty sure most of us Ravenclaws are the 'silent type' anyway." He nodded in agreement to Jim's description of their journey here. "Yeah, I've been fortunate enough not to see his bad side as of yet, so there's that. How was your way up here?" he asked, leaning across the table for the salt.

Brie smiled, listening to the both of them speak before opening her mouth, "Fionn? Hmm, I don't know about that guy.. he thinks he's so big and bad. It's irritating to me.. I could be wrong about him, though. His physical appearance just screams arrogant and bully.."

She bit her lip as Todd repeated her question, "..Um, it was okay.. eye-opening, to say the least.."

'You're stupid, Brieanne. Finding out your fiance, the guy your uncle set you up with when you were like.. I don't know, EIGHT, goes to HOGWARTS IS DEFINITELY MORE THAN EYE-OPENING. IDIOT!' her mind screamed, the girl still managing to keep a calm and relaxed persona about her, "What do you think of the first years? Good batch of kids or what?"

"He has a soft side when it comes to a pretty face," Jim said, remembering how Fionn was polite to Aimee on the train. "Other than that, if you get in his way, you're toast." After all, Jim had personal experience when it came to Fionn's bullying ways. No doubt the guy would be on the look-out for him as soon as classes started. He looked over at Brieanne at her sudden change of topic. Did something happen on her train ride here? But he didn't ask questions. He knew he had some personal matters that he didn't want people prying into. "They seem alright," he said, glancing at the first-years. "Although we heard that Filch actually had a daughter and that this is her first year here. I think she got sorted into Hufflepuff, if I remember the sorting correctly."

"Yeah, it's not only his appearance that screams 'bully', he actually seems kinda proud of it," Todd murmured, propping up his arm and resting his chin on his fist. "I figured I'd be pretty enough to be on his good list, but supposedly not." He pretended to pout as he listened to their talk about the first years. "Yeah, she seems really friendly and bubbly for a Filch. Actually, all the first years seem that way. Too bad that won't last long."

Brie rolled her eyes at the two's statements about Fionn, twirling a strand of her curly hair around her finger, "I'll just steer clear of him, then.. I'd rather not risk losing my cool and having to teach him a lesson or two.." She immediately burst out in musical laughter at Todd before he pouted, her dimples showing in the process. "I wouldn't judge a book by its cover.. Filch has reason to not be liked, but that girl might be the exact opposite of him. And, from what you've said of her, she most likely is."

It got quiet for a while, and then Brie spoke up again, "What do you mean, that won't last long, Todd?"

"Well, that may humble him a bit," Jim said. "Getting his butt kicked by a girl. Maybe we should team up sometime." He gave a grin. Usually, he was fighting against Fionn and the other bullies alone. It felt better to have someone with him and back him up, as he saw earlier when Molly stood up for him in the train. "Well, it's just kinda standard for most first-years," he said. "They think they just wave their wands all the time and go to a few Quidditch games, but they don't realize that there's a lot of essays to write and some boring classes to go to as well. That kinda brings them down a bit."

Todd grinned, nodding as he scooped a spoonful of mashed potatoes into his mouth. "Yeah, you're definitely muscle enough to take him. What d'you bench, like, 150? 175?" he teased Brieanne. He frowned at what Jim said about the schoolwork and the sort. He couldn't agree more, but it was sort of sad to think about too. "That and people like Fionn, or just bullies in general. After all that there are very few who are all sunshine and rainbows."

"Maybe we should, Jim. It'd be fun," Brie said, shaking her head at Todd. "I could show you what I'm capable of, but I don't wanna scare the poor little first years," she said, smirking afterwards. That was one of the moments where she was actually grateful of her uncle's rigorous training, and she knew her frail-looking attributes would only act as a bully magnet. Oh, how she loved turning the tables on them.

"True.. essays, tests, bullies, stress, not being able to see your family for a while.. it gets kind of dreary after some time.. but I really am grateful for Hogwarts. Don't know about you guys, but Hogwarts really is my savior," Brie said, sticking out her tongue at her own statement, "..That was really, really mushy of me to say.."

Jim smiled. Brieanne seemed pretty cool in his book. It looked like Fionn would be in for a nasty surprise if he tried to mess with him when Brieanne was around. He smirked, thinking of the look on his face. He shrugged at Brieanne's statement. "Eh, mushy, smushy. People do get sentimental around this place sometimes, so you're good." He wasn't sure if he thought of Hogwarts so positively. After all, he hadn't exactly made any friends until today.

Todd raised his ginger eyebrows, lips twitching into a grin. "I'd like to see what you're capable of someday, then. Now you've got me curious." He glanced down for a fleeting moment, unsure of where he stood on the whole Hogwarts thing; probably somewhere in the middle, really. It was a second home, but there were as many problems here as there were at home so it wasn't a huge change from place to place. "It's a great place, I admit. I guess I just don't feel as...strongly."

"Maybe we can have a friendly duel sometime.. or you can just keep being curious until the right moment presents itself," said Brie, smiling back at Todd. She caught a whiff of some pepper and covered her mouth, sneezing three times in a row, the sneeze itself sounding very high pitched and much unlike her initial voice, "Sorry.. bless me."

"Yeah, I understand. I just don't have much of anyone to talk to at home. It's just myself and my uncle.. and he's all I have, really. I guess you can say, if I didn't have this place, I'd very much go insane.." Brie said, biting her lip, "Oh, and you don't have to call me by my full name. I like Brie. Just Brie," she said, her brown eyes twinkling.

"Hey, wasn't there talk of a dueling club getting started here?" Jim asked. "Or has it been around for a while?" He wasn't entirely sure, since he learned to tune out other people's gossip long ago. "I haven't dueled much, but it sounds interesting. Just not sure if my reflexes are fast enough." Half the time, Jim was like a zombie, all tired and slow. That didn't exactly put him in a good place if he ended up in a duel somehow. He was tempted to ask Brieanne why she lived with just her uncle and not her parents, but he kept his mouth shut. He had made that mistake before and has asked another girl that same question once. She had burst out crying and told him that her parents had been killed by Death Eaters when she was a toddler. And she had told him never to speak to her again. He wondered if Brieanne was in the same situation. "Ah, more nicknames," he said, grinning. "At least yours matches your actual name. Molly has already started calling me 'Sleepy' because I was dozing off in the train. And I think it's gonna stick. But hey, I guess I could do worse."

Todd cocked his head with a smile at Bri. "Hm. Actually kinda frightened of what your skills might be now." He glanced at Jim, thinking that over. "I'm not sure, man...I've heard that, but I've never been interested in clubs or whatever before so I wouldn't know. " He shrugged, then tossed an amused, "Bless you!" in Brieanne's direction.

"Okay, Just Brie. That is one of the better nicknames I've heard." Turning to Jim, he said, with a sly sort of smirk, "Um, so I have a confession. When I, like, first got on the compartment I gave you guys nicknames in my head. You were Dopey - just because of the sleeping thing, though I took a little nap as well, didn't I? - , Fionn was Muscles, and Molly was Feisty. So, yeah, I'd say Bri is the best nickname I've heard all day."

"Yeah, I've heard rumours of it.. actually kind of exciting for me. Dueling's one of my strongpoints.. and Todd, don't be frightened over little ol' me.. You're a man, act like one," she teased, laughing afterwards. She quieted as they spoke, taking the opportunity to think. She was actually making friends.. REAL friends. It almost made her forget everything that happened in the cabin.. almost.

"Well, thanks, I guess. Even though I think the nickname 'Sleepy' is kinda cute," Brie said, grinning, "I think I'm gonna call you Sly, Todd.. it's a good thing, promise."

Jim laughed. "Dopey? Kind of fits when it comes to me in social situations." He didn't take offense to it. After all, it was just a first impression. After all, Todd was kind of a quiet guy at first, but he said some pretty funny stuff if you hung around him long enough. "Why do people always associate me with cute things?" he asked. "I'm not exactly a cuddly teddy bear that little girls want to buy."
